The one we really wanted to try was the melted crayon pumpkin and we did! Here’s how to do it.

What you will need:

  • a pack of crayons
  • a white pumpkin
  • a blowdryer
  • a garbage bag

How to do it:

  1. First you will need to peel the wrapper off of the crayons
  2. Next, set up your working station with the garbage bag as your work table to prevent making a mess. Things may get a bit messy as the crayons will drip once they start melting.
  3. Place the crayons on top of the pumpkin or hold them over the pumpkin
  4. Turn on the blow dryer and melt the crayons with that heat! They will quickly begin to drizzle as it does not take long at all for them to melt. Drizzle the melting crayon colours according to your preference.

OOTD: Fall Casual

For todays outfit of the day…

Fall is known for being one of those seasons where it can be so difficult and confusing when you’re trying to figure out what to wear. Its either too hot, or too cold.. sometimes it feels like there is no in-between. For these types of days, what I typically do is pair a t-shirt with a thick cardigan, so it becomes easy to take off layers. (Fall is the season for layering!!)

For my casual day, I paired my long thick brown cardigan from Urban Behaviour with a cropped t-shirt and some jeans from Zara. i love the colour burgundy and think it is perfect for any fall day. it was a bit chilly so i added a burgundy scarf with some detailing, a silver watch, and paired it with brown riding boots. I wrapped up this fall look with seasonal scent “Country Chic”.

Summer Candles Step Aside, It’s Time For Fall Scents

Candles are decor essentials that stick around no matter what season it is. This fall season calls for the clearing out of summer scents, and bringing in the old and new fall candles.

Last week, Melissa and I adventured out to the candle experts, Bath and Body Works, to get the latest scoop on the most popular fall candle this season, as well as picking out a few of our favourites to try and review. According to a Bath and Body Works employee, one of the most popular scents for fall is the “Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin” scent. “Actually, all year round the most popular candle scent has been Japanese Cherry Blossom”, and has been for 25 years” She added in after she told us falls scent. (So if you’re ever unsure of a smell to chose from, check out the Japanese Cherry Blossom- it will not disappoint!)

After checking out Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin (which smelt delicious), we picked up some scents, both old and new, that we couldn’t help but grab. Tailgate, is one of the perfect scents if you’re into the woods-ie, musky scents- it literally smells like a high school football game. Perfect for putting you into the homecoming/fall mood. Sea Salt & Maple Popcorn is ideal for any area of the house for this season, with a mixture of sweet and salty (it smells delicious!) Mahogany Teakwood is a personal all time fave of mine, and so it is one of my seasonal essentials. I didn’t pick up White Water Birch or Mahogany Teakwood on our endeavour to B&B that occurred recently, but i figured I would toss them into one of the many great fall scents. Marshmallow Fireside is another one that i previously purchased, but it is currently being sold during this season, and it smells like a bonfire (and who doesn’t love the smell of roasting marshmallows?!) it is not only great for fall, but great for winter as well. And lastly, but certainly not the last of the fabulous fall scents B&B has to offer, is Spiced Apple Toddy, for the perfect sweet and spicy smell that can be ideal for either fall or winter.

The 3 wick candles are the largest candles that can be purchased at B&B Canada, and their regular retail sale is $22.50 CAN each, The mason jar candles retail for $12.50 CAN each, whereas the small candles retail for $10.00 CAN typically. If you aren’t the type to be committed to a candle, try out the mini candles, which are ideal for sampling scents. They retail for about $4.50CAN.

Bath and Body Works is notorious for they’re fabulous deals, they always have something new going on, between promos, gifts after purchase and coupons. Be sure to check out the Bath and Body Works nearest to you, or check out their website to find out when the latest deals are hitting your location.

Have you heard about the Watch Hunger Stop campaign? The UN World Food Programme has teamed up with fashion designer, Michael Kors. His well known company aims to raise awareness to world hunger through this profoundly known campaign WATCH HUNGER STOP. This campaign will support WFP’s school meal programmes through the sale of a Michael Kors’ “Watch Hunger Stop” T-shirt. The campaign launched last year, in April 2013, and for every Michael Kors unisex watch sold, 100 children were fed. Now, with a new marketing goal that has launched, Michael Kors and WFP fight to continue to raise awareness to this important world issue. The campaign first benefited with the support from academy award-winning actress, Halle Berry. Now the campaign is being heard by powerful voices such as the talented and inspirational actress, Sophia Bush, and young Hollywood actress, Hailee Steinfeld. However, these aren’t the only celebrities who are supporting the cause. Supermodels- Lily Aldridge, Candice Swanepoel and Chrissy Teigen- have joined the campaign and are the new faces for the Watch Hunger Stop T-shirt promotion.

For more information about the campaign, interviews and videos visit http://destinationkors.michaelkors.com/kors-cares/watch-hunger-stop/

Yesterday was World Food Day and, in honor of that, Duo Domination wants to help spread the word of this incredible campaign. Everyday, we should all be thankful that we can start off the day with breakfast, pack a lunch for school or work and come home to a set plate on the dinner table. Think about how lucky you are and, for our fellow Canadians, who celebrated Thanksgiving last weekend, we should be even more thankful during this season. Next time you do not like what your mom made for dinner, eat it anyways because you are lucky enough to have a meal while somewhere, someone in the world is trying to fight starvation.

What Can YOU do?

This campaign is open to the public, allowing people to receive a free T-shirt from selected Michael Kors stores; starting October 16th to the end of the month. Pick up a T-shirt today and post your selfless selfie with the hashtag #WATCHHUNGERSTOP on any form of social media. How will that help? Well, for every selfless selfie posted under the hashtag, Michael Kors will personally donate 100 meals to WFP! When we heard about this campaign we were very inspired and thought it was such a creative and fun way to spread awareness to this truly important global issue. We hope that this campaign inspires you to do the same. With a simple upload (which I’m sure many people are used to doing) you can help feed 100 children. Think about how much you are helping from a single post! Imagine what we could do when we all work together. Not only will you be helping those in need, you will be helping yourself feel good. A simple, giving act goes a long way and in this case the power is in your hands. Help Michael Kors and WFP reach their goal of 10,000,000 meals. What’s the current update? So far the campaign has provided 5,300,000 meals. Help spread the word and fight world hunger by joining the cause today!

Find a participating store near you and pick up your free T-shirt. Hurry while supplies last! Here is a list of all the participating Michael Kors stores. http://f.michaelkorsemail.com/i/52/471778492/participating_WHS_tshirt_locations.html

PLAID is the new BLACk (yes, it came back)

As stated in the “New York Fall 2014 Runway Report” By harpersbazaar.com, it has been stated that everyone is loving the fall trend for plaid, and it is one of the top patterns that everyone will be seen in this fall.

Whether its playing it up with some riding boots, or your favourite pair of jeans; plaid is a fall 2014 essential. It can be easily layered for those nippy days, and worn alone for the warm days. It is something that you can easily wear as a flannel, or even simply having a classic plaid skirt. You can wear it over top your cutest shirt, or around your waist to achieve your inner rocker chic style. simple essential brings so much colour into your outfit, its impossible not to want to jump on this trend.

I know what majority of you are thinking ( no, plaid is not just a country girl thing)! If you aren’t into to the whole “country” look, you could try going for a skirt with plaid or even a chiffon top with a plaid pattern. Or, spice it up a bit and do a solid outfit with a plaid scarf. The options are endless, with whatever style your taste suits.

The best part is (are you ready for it?) plaid is basically all around the malls during this season, everyone has gone plaid crazy. This means that it is possible to get these styles at some of the lowest prices. Check back at our blog to see what stores are selling this hot trend, and for what prices that meet your match.

Thanksgiving: Family bonding in your cutest outfit

Thanksgiving is a time for family bonding, homemade meals, delicious pies and of course fall fashion. This holiday season we have a lot to be thankful for. The laughs we share with our friends and family, all the opportunities we are given and the lives that we are lucky to live every day. Then of course we are thankful for the art of fashion. Fashion allows us to show off who we are. What better way to show off who you are this thanksgiving with your family. Be you in your own clothes, comfortable and confident. Your family loves you and your shining style. You are your fashion so this fall dare to be bold.
